Motor vehicle owners in Manokwari are enthusiastic about taking advantage of the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) relief policy implemented by the West Papua Provincial Government.

Acting Head of UPTD Manunggal One-Stop Administration System (Samsat) Septinus Ullo in Manokwari, Thursday, said that since it was opened on August 15, up to now, more than 300 vehicle owners have taken advantage of the PKB payment relief.

"There are more than 300 taxpayers who manage motor vehicle tax relief. Of course, the number will continue to grow," said Ullo.

According to him, the tax relief policy is valid from August 15 to December 15 2022.

This is regulated in the Decree of the Governor of West Papua Number 973/196/8/2022 concerning Principal Reduction and/or Exemption of Administrative Sanctions in the Form of PKB Fines and Transfer Fees for Motorized Vehicles.

Ullo believes that there are still many taxpayers who are not aware of the policy of reducing motor vehicle tax payments so that it is hoped that the information can reach all taxpayers, especially taxpayers who have arrears.

"Many people know but many don't know, especially our brothers and sisters in rural areas, we also haven't been able to do direct socialization because there are no instructions from the service," he explained.

As for the vehicle transfer service, which is free of charge, so far there are still few enthusiasts.

In fact, the number of motorized vehicles, both two-wheeled, four-wheeled and six-wheeled with police numbers from outside the Manokwari area, is quite a lot circulating in this area.

"We hope that the opportunities that exist can be used well, especially the change of police numbers because it will increase taxes that enter the West Papua area," Ullo hoped.

With this policy, tax arrears for 3-5 years are required to pay 2 years of principal taxes, while arrears over 5 years only pay 3 years of principal taxes without penalties.
