JWW: This October DOB Inaugurated

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo (JWW) said that this October 2022, the Government will inaugurate the Ratification of New Autonomous Regions (DOB), namely Central Papua Province, South Papua Province and Papua Mountains Province.

After inaugurating 3 members of the Papuan People's Assembly, they alternate between times at the Lukman building, the Papua provincial governor's office, Friday (30/9). He said that it would not take long for the three provinces to be inaugurated.

"Regarding the administration of government, the implementation of development and community development in the 3 new autonomous regions, if there are no obstacles at the end of October 2022, the government will inaugurate the ratification of 3 new new autonomous regions, while waiting for the new gubernatorial official for the administration of government to be able to run well," he said.
 
After being inaugurated, the 3 new provinces in the land of Papua are expected to be able to participate in elections or simultaneous elections in 2024. "Because we will hold a simultaneous election in 2024 on February 14, we will participate in the general election in 2024," he said.

He also said that the seat distribution itself would later be divided according to the number of population data and the existing seat quotas in the 3 new provinces. "Looking at the number of people in the south, which is not yet large, there are no more than 35 seats for South Papua and 45 seats for Central Papua and 45 seats for mountainous Papua, and this does not include appointments that will be made in the three new provinces," he said. .

He added that for the appointment of seats in the DPR, if previously it was only done in the provinces, in the future it will be carried out in the Regency/City DPRD, so that Papuans can have the opportunity to be in politics to determine the future politics must be much better.
