Members of the MRP ask the KPK to seriously handle the corruption case of Governor Lukas Enembe

Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) member Herman Yoku asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to be more serious in handling the alleged corruption case of Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe because the state must not lose to corruptors.

"The appointment of large tribal chiefs is seen as an effort to avoid KPK investigations by taking refuge from the customs of the Papuan people," said Herman Yoku in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.

The head of the Wikaya Tribe in Papua questioned the legality of Dominikus Sorabut who claimed that the Chairman of the Papuan Customary Council (DAP) appointed Lukas Enembe.

"I used to be the chairman of the customary council, so DAP is my home. I was just surprised that the adat council went to inaugurate tribal chiefs in other people's traditional territories," he said.

Herman said Dominikus Sorabut was the chairman of the DAP version of the independent Papua KLB which was initiated by the Forkorus Yaboisembut group in 2011.

"I only recognize the DAP under the leadership of Yan Piet Yarangga, who was elected based on the results of the 4th Great Papuan Indigenous Peoples Conference (KBMAP) in Kaimana Regency in 2021," he said.

He considered that the inauguration of Luke Enembe as the head of a large tribe by Dominikus Sorabut needed to be straightened out.

"There is only one chief of the Jayawijaya tribe, namely Silo Karno Doga, the son of Obahorok," he said.

The inauguration of a tribal chief is always carried out, continued Herman, in his own customary area and the inauguration ritual is carried out instead of people having an inaugurated lineage.
