The West Papuan government focuses on building tourism support facilities in Manokwari

The West Papua Provincial Government is focused on building a number of supporting facilities around tourist sites such as mountains, caves and beaches in Manokwari Regency.

Acting Governor of West Papua, Paulus Waterpauw, in Manokwari, Friday, said that the supporting facilities were built so that tourists can easily access tourism potential in Manokwari. One of the supporting facilities built is road access.

"We are focusing on road access, especially the road to the Gunung Table Natural Tourism Park (TWA) because in the future the place will be focused on tourist destinations for those who love nature," said Paulus Waterpauw.

The tourism potential in terms of caves, said Paulus, is the possibility of caves from the Japanese colonial era which he said could penetrate to Mansinam Island or 6 kilometers from the city center.

"But about this cave, I don't know whether the information is true or not. Nothing has come so far. We will prove it later," he said.

He hoped that if the cave actually existed, it would be very good to become a tourism potential in Manokwari that foreign tourists could visit.

Paulus said that in the near future there will be an international surfing agenda that is planned to be held at Petrus Caviar Beach in Amban Village, West Manokwari District.

It's just that he hopes that before aggressively promoting tourism potential, the Manokwari Regency Government needs to continuously beautify the appearance of the Manokwari urban area.

"This includes beautifying Mansinam Island, which has become an island of civilization and as an Island of Christian Religion," Paul hoped.

In front of the Manokwari community in Borarsi Square, West Manokwari District, while inaugurating the Month of Mutual Cooperation in celebrating Manokwari's 124th Anniversary, Paulus called Manokwari a city of civilization and a city of the gospel that should be prioritized for development in West Papua.

He also invited all parties to jointly build the capital city of West Papua Province so that it will be better in the future and bring prosperity to all its residents.
