Merauke Deputy Regent Appreciates OPD Formation Process in South Papua Province

Merauke Deputy Regent Riduwan appreciated the process of forming Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) in South Papua Province. This was conveyed by Riduwan at a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of assistance and supervision in the context of facilitating the formation of institutions and staffing of regional apparatus in the new expansion areas in Papua Province.

The event, which was facilitated by the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Regional Autonomy (Otda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), was held at Halogen Hotel Merauke, Friday (7/10/2022). The event was titled "Public Test for the Formation of the Draft Governor Regulation for the Establishment and Composition of Regional Apparatuses in South Papua Province and the Draft Governor Regulation on Organizational Structure and Work Procedures (SOTK)".

“I am grateful that the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy planned this FGD on the formation of the OPD, which has been planned for around 22 OPD. So this is the beginning of the formation of the South Papua Province which has begun to appear, and we are grateful," he said.

Riduwan explained, the OPD that will be compiled is made based on needs first. Further refinement of the draft for the formation of a new OPD for South Papua Province will be carried out. The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who occupy positions in the OPD must be experienced, fair, and in accordance with their duties, fields, and expertise.

"Our task is to perfect the overall design, so that nothing is left behind," he said.

He revealed that all representatives of the district government (Pemkab) covering the area of South Papua Province, namely the Merauke Regency Government, Mappi Regency Government, Boven Digoel Regency Government, and Asmat Regency Government, were also present at the event. His party emphasized that by holding the FGD, all officials involved must focus and be thorough about the various OPDs needed.

“This design improvement will be better, more complete, more comprehensive, but we also have to be fair, because there are four districts. Four regencies where each district also has advantages and disadvantages," he said.

Riduwan hopes that this result will really be able to fully describe the OPD of the South Papua Provincial Government.
