Papuan youth: Jokowi builds Papua to the interior

The young generation of Papua and West Papua who are members of the Young Exponent of Papua assess that President Joko Widodo has succeeded in developing Papua to the interior.

"In the health sector, education and infrastructure have been built to remote areas. Previously it had not been touched," said Chairman of the Young Exponent Papua, Rahman Fatur, in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

According to him, the acceleration of infrastructure development in the Jokowi era is considered successful in encouraging regional economic growth. This is because the infrastructure built makes the community's economy more active. Adequate infrastructure can reduce travel time, thereby speeding up logistics routes.

Exponent Muda Papua is an organization that accommodates students from Papua and West Papua who are pursuing higher education in the Greater Jakarta area.

In Papua, the government is noted to have carried out various infrastructure developments in Bumi Cenderawasih, including the construction of the Trans Papua road, the construction of an airport, a port to the Youtefa Bridge to the Sota State Cross-Border Post in Merauke Regency.

He stated that development in the Jokowi era in Papua was almost in all sectors. In fact, Jokowi has come to Papua dozens of times to ensure that development in Papua runs effectively and optimally.

Rahman said that Jokowi had also made Presidential Instruction Number 09 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare in Papua and West Papua, as a form of the government's seriousness towards development in various sectors in Papua.

"President Jokowi in his administration has been effective in developing Papua, and that's what we really feel and also in reality on the ground," he emphasized.

He hopes that the Jokowi government will continue to improve development in Papua. He is also prepared to support policies for the good of Papua.

In addition, Rahman also hopes that Young Exponent Papua can be a forum for young Papuans to develop their interests, talents and self-development for the progress of Papua in particular and Indonesia in general.
