Papuan KKB Attacks 14 People: 4 Dead, 9 Evacuated, 1 Woman Still Missing

The Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) reportedly attacked 14 people who were working on the connecting road between Moskona, Teluk Bintuni Regency, and Maybrat Regency, West Papua.

As explained by the Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, as a result of the attack that occurred on Thursday (29/9/2022), as many as four people were killed, nine were evacuated, while one woman was missing. All of them are employees of CV Doreri Permai.

"Based on the victim's statement, last Thursday, at 15.00 WIT, 14 employees were walking using two heavy equipment and three trucks. Suddenly, in the middle of the road they heard gunshots. Three of his colleagues ran away with wounds on their hands, so the others joined in. run," Adam said in Kompas Afternoon on KOMPAS TV, Saturday (1/10/2022).

"The latest development, last night the joint TNI/Polri evacuation team evacuated victims. Of the 14 workers, the findings were 9 successfully evacuated safely, 4 died," he added.

Adam then explained that until now one woman named Reva, who works as a cook, has not been identified.

"Six people managed to escape to the TNI Ramil Post, three people ran towards the river. Well, this Reva doesn't know where to run," said the Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police.

"The joint team is still searching for Reva, hopefully we can find him soon. If the security conditions, other than in the area, are actually under control, only specifically at that location, maybe we need to increase our vigilance," he added.
 
On the other hand, the Head of the West Papua Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Office, Yohanis Momot, explained the latest situation regarding the victims who had been evacuated.

As reported by Antara, Yohanis said the bodies were immediately taken to the Emergency Installation at Teluk Bintuni Hospital, at Kilometer 7 Bintuni, for burial on Friday (30/10) evening.

"Workers who suffered serious injuries while being treated at Teluk Bintuni Hospital," he added.
