The Kaimana DPRD supports accelerating the distribution of clean water to residents' homes

The Kaimana DPRD, West Papua, supports the local government's efforts to accelerate the distribution of clean water to residents' homes in Kaimana City.

Chairman of Commission C DPRD Kaimana Frans Amberbay in Kaimana, Saturday, said clean water is a vital necessity for people's lives.

In a working meeting with the Kaimana PUPR Service some time ago, he said, Commission C asked for the issue of clean water to get priority attention. Moreover, this has become one of the main missions of the Kaimana Regency Government under the leadership of Regent Freddy Thie and Deputy Regent Hasbulla Furuada.

"The visions and missions of the regional head must be able to be translated properly by the relevant agencies, in this case the PUPR Office must be able to manage and handle clean water problems in Kaimana City, which the community has complained about for a long time," said Frans.

Commission C of the Kaimana DPRD assesses that so far the handling of the clean water problem in Kaimana has not been carried out in its entirety, but only piecemeal.

"We want the PUPR Service to make a big concept on how to solve the clean water problem in Kaimana Regency, not only in Kaimana City, but also in the districts and villages," he said.

The concept of clean water management in Kaimana, explained Frans, must also be adjusted to the availability of the regional budget.

"If the required budget is too large, it can be pushed through the West Papua Provincial Budget or ask for support from the central government. The point is we will support local governments in solving this clean water problem because it is a basic need of the community," he said.

Commission C of the Kaimana DPRD also hopes that the local district government will clarify the legal status of the Clean Air UPTD, which has been considered weak in the management system.

Recently, Kaimana Regent Freddy Thie checked the progress of the clean water facility work by the local PUPR Office, which was taken from three main sources.

There are two locations that are targeted for checking, namely the water source of the Kali Suku and Kali Tarobe which are close to residential areas.

When checking the two sources of clean water, he admitted that he was quite satisfied with the progress of the work on the clean water facilities so that it was hoped that the residents of Kaimana would soon be able to enjoy it in the not too distant future.

"In the Sukun River there is already a good catch of water. The water will later be channeled to a reservoir or reservoir called the IPA (Water Treatment Plant) to be further forwarded to the network that is connected to people's homes," he explained.

There are several things that need immediate improvement, namely the capacity of the engine to push water into the reservoir must be larger so that the water flows faster to people's homes.

In addition, it is necessary to repair the pipeline network because there are leaks and also several broken faucet stops and other supporting devices.

So far, residents who live in Seram Village have been able to enjoy clean water from the source of Kali Sukun.

Work on clean water facilities from water sources in the Torabe River will also be completed soon and in the near future it can be distributed to people's homes.

There is still one more source of water for the residents of Kaimana City, namely from Kilometer 14. Currently, the clean water has been distributed to the WTP facility located at kilometer 5.

"I received a report that the water had arrived at the kilo 5 IPA after two to three weeks of repairing the solarcell panels to drive the pump. The obstacle was that there were a number of broken pipes but they have been repaired so that the water can reach the IPA," said Freddy.

The Kaimana Regency Government plans to disburse funds through the Unexpected Expenditure (BTT) budget to finance repairs to the clean water distribution pipeline network in Kaimana City, considering that clean water is a basic need of the community.
