Police Shoot 1 KKB Member in Bintang Mountains, 2 Others Escape

Cartenz Peace Task Force personnel shot a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) in the Bintang Mountains, Papua. Meanwhile, two other KKB members reportedly ran away leaving their colleague who was shot.

"This morning members carried out an ambush (attack) against 3 members of an armed criminal group. It is suspected that they wanted to disrupt the activities of Polri personnel who wanted to send logistics via helicopter flights," said Head of the Bintang Mountains Police AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito when asked for confirmation, as reported by detikSulsel, Friday ( 28/10/2022).
 
Cahyo said that since this morning his members had been doing security in order to prepare for the security of the helicopter that was about to land. According to him, the helicopter landed in Kwirok in order to carry food supplies for security personnel there.
 
"At that time, our members saw 3 people carrying firearms and suspected to be from the KKB group. Then members using long-range weapons shot one of them who was carrying a firearm," he said.

Cahyo said 1 person from the 3 KKB groups was shot. However, due to the location of the KKB group at the top of a mountain and the remote terrain, the criminal group was not evacuated.
 
"2 of his friends ran away and took a firearm in the hand of one of those who was shot," said Cahyo.
