Police Succeed in Arresting 3 KKB Networks, Related to Ammunition in Timika
Papuans. The Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force managed to arrest three people suspected of being involved in the sale and purchase of firearms, in Mimika Regency, Papua, on Thursday (22/9/22) and Friday (23/9/22).
Reporting from Kompas news, two of the three people who were arrested were members of the Intan Jaya Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
While one other person is the Chairman of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Mimika.
"It is true that three people have been arrested for carrying out transactions in the sale and purchase of ammunition," said the Director General of the Papua Police, Kombes. Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos, SIK, MH when contacted by telephone, Saturday (24/9/22).
Of the two KKB members who were arrested, the suspects were named Meki Nabelau and Botak Kogoya.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of KNPB Mimika is Yanyo Awerkion. "Yanto acts as an ammunition seller, but until now he has not wanted to reveal where the ammunition came from," explained the Papua Police Direskrimum.
The arrests began when the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force received information that there would be a sale and purchase of firearms ammunition, on Thursday (22/9/22).
After further investigation, said the Direskrimum Polda Papua, Damai Cartenz Ops Task Force then arrested Meki Nabelau and ransacked his home.
"In his house, he found 95 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 18 rounds of Revolver ammunition, one soft air gun, one gun holster and one noken bag with a morning star pattern," explained the Papua Police Direskrimum.
After being investigated, Meki Kogoya said that two of his colleagues were also involved in purchasing ammunition, namely Botak Kogoya and Erikson Omaleng. As for Erikson Omaleng, he has not been caught and is currently on the Wanted List (DPO).
Following up on the incident, the police are consolidating and preparing to arrest the Chairman of KNPB Mimika Yanto Awerkion at his residence in Kebun Sirih, Mimika.
"On Friday (23/9/2022) at 19.10 WIT, the team succeeded in making arrests and conducting a search at Yanto Awerkion's house," explained the Papua Police Direskrimum.
From the statements of the perpetrators, it is strongly suspected that the ammunition will be sent to the Intan Jaya KKB led by Undius Kogoya.
