Puncak Regent: Minimizing Aminggaru Airport Accident will be Extended



Puncak Regent Willem Wandik, SE., M.Si said that if the conditions in Puncak Regency were safe, the Aminggaru Airport runway would be extended to minimize aircraft accidents when landing.

This was conveyed by the Regent of Wandik, Wednesday (26/10/2022).
 
During the visit, the Regent of Puncak, accompanied by the Head of the Airport Implementation Unit (UPBU) Herman Sujito, saw the condition of the plane where the front gear was broken, the propeller was bent, and the left rear wheel of the plane was also damaged.

"I am concerned because this aircraft has also contributed to the development in Puncak Regency, even since this Regency was formed, I hope that this aircraft can be repaired and can be operated again, must fly again," he said.

He continued, Aminggaru Ilaga Airport was planned to be extended and received special attention from the President and the Minister of Transportation because it was the only transportation artery in Puncak Regency, but due to the unsafe situation, construction was not carried out.

"This airport should have been extended because it is a priority program that gets the President's attention, but the conditions are not safe so nothing is done, even though the extension of the airport is to minimize plane accidents," he said.

Therefore, the Regent hopes that the people of Puncak, unite to maintain security, so that physical development, including the airport in Ilaga, can be carried out, because it is the lifeblood of aircraft transportation from Outside Ilaga.

"The existence of this airport is for the people in Puncak, there is an airport, so the economy, development in this district can run, so we must guard this airport together, this airport will remain until God comes, for our children and grandchildren," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of the Airport Implementation Unit (UPBU) Herman Sujito said that according to the plan the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) would arrive in Ilaga, to inspect the plane crash on Thursday (10/27/2022).

"Today's NTSC team from Jayapura to Timika, then tomorrow to Ilaga, later they will carry out an investigation and convey the causes of the plane crash, because we can only convey visually what we saw," he explained.

Herman explained that in this plane crash, there were no victims of Captain Gabriel and co-pilot Sulaiman, who were in good health, while the plane that was damaged, until this news was revealed was still parked at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport.
