The KPK Again Examines the Papuan Regional Secretary for the Bribery and Gratification of Lukas Enembe

Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) again questioned the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Papua Province, Ridwan Ruenterun as a witness in the alleged corruption case against Lukas Enembe.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Ridwan was questioned by investigators at the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters on Saturday (5/11/2022).

"It was investigated, among other things, his knowledge related to the main tasks of government in the Papua Provincial Government," said Ali in a written message to reporters, Monday (7/11/2022).

For information, Ridwan was also summoned by investigators to explore his knowledge regarding the use of the Papua Provincial Government's APBD funds on October 18.

On the same day, KPK investigators also questioned the head of the local Procurement Service Unit (ULP), Noldy Taroreh. He was investigated regarding a number of projects carried out within the Papua Provincial Government.

In addition to the two Papuan Provincial Government officials, the KPK also examined 7 witnesses from the private sector. They are the Commissioners of PT. Tabi Bangun Papua, Bonny Pirono; Finance staff of PT. Tabi Bangun Papua, Meike; PT Tabi Bangun Papua staff, Yani Ardniningrum; and the company's employee Rijatono Lakka.

Then, the Director of CV Walibhu, Irianti Yuspita; Commander CV Walibhu, Razwel Patrick Williams Bonay; CV Walibhu staff, Irma Imelda; and one from the private sector named Rijatono Lakka.

"The witnesses were present and their knowledge was studied, among others, related to the participation of several private companies in working on various projects in the Papua Provincial Government," said Ali.

Previously, the KPK had named Luas Enembe as a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to a project sourced from the Papua Provincial Government's APBD. His lawyer said Lukas received Rp 1 billion.

The examination of Luke had been tough. The KPK has scheduled Lukas to be questioned as a witness at the Papua Regional Police on September 12. However, he did not attend due to illness.

On September 26, the KPK again summoned Lukas to be questioned as a suspect in Jakarta. However, the Democrat Party politician was again absent.

Luke's lawyers visited the KPK's Red and White building in Jakarta several times to convey Luak's health condition. They also asked that Lukas be allowed to seek treatment in Singapore.

However, the KPK and Luke's lawyers have different views. The anti-corruption agency continued to ask that Lukas be questioned in Jakarta first, while Lukas's side challenged the investigation to be conducted in Jayapura.

The KPK finally sent a medical team from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and a team of investigators to examine Luke at his residence on Thursday (11/3/2022). The examination was accompanied by the Chairperson of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

According to Firli, the continuation of the Lukas case depends on the report on the results of the investigation team and the medical team from IDI.

"The next step, of course, is that we will review the results of our examination, both from the investigator team, including from the medical team that we brought earlier," said Firli in his official statement, Thursday (11/3/2022) night.
