The West Papua Provincial Government Prepares a Budget of IDR 5 Billion to Support the Southwest Papua Government



The West Papua Provincial Government has prepared a budget of Rp. billion to support the process of administering government in the Southwest Papua Province.

This was emphasized by Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw when meeting Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo, Commission II of the DPR, and regional heads of the Sorong Raya region, in Sorong, West Papua, Monday (21/11/2022).

The Southwest Papua Province was approved by the government and the DPR in a plenary session on Thursday (17/11/2022) afternoon.

"The government, in this case the Ministry of Home Affairs, approved and ratified the formation of the Southwest Papua Province as the 38th province in Indonesia through a plenary meeting to make a decision on the Southwest Papua Province Bill," Paulus said in Sorong, Monday.

Paulus reminded the whole community to maintain security and order stability in Southwest Papua Province.

"The West Papua Provincial Government in the near future will prepare the submission of ASN, equipment, financing and documents. We have also prepared a budget of Rp. 5 billion to assist the Acting Governor's duties and assist the government process," said Paulus.

Paulus will discuss grants and assets belonging to West Papua which are still scattered in the Southwest Papua region.

On that occasion, the Acting Governor of West Papua and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs visited the temporary office of the Governor of Southwest Papua Province which is in the Sorong Mayor's Office.
