West Papua UMP 2023 is set at IDR 3.28 million



The West Papua Provincial Wage Council has set the West Papua Province minimum wage for 2023 in the region of IDR 3,282,000 or an increase of IDR 82,000 from the previous year.

West Papua UMP 2023 was signed by the Acting Governor of West Papua represented by Assistant II for Development Economics Melkias Werinussa in Manokwari, Tuesday.

Head of the West Papua Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans), Frederik Saidui in Manokwari, Tuesday said the 2023 UMP had increased by IDR 82,000 from 2022 which amounted to IDR 3,200,000.

"It has increased but slightly, taking into account the average per capita consumption in 2022 and other aspects such as inflation and regional economic growth," said Saidui.

According to Saidui, the implementation of the West Papua UMP refers to PP 36/2021 concerning wages, which is a synchronization of data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

It was stated, the determination of the UMP was an effort to realize the rights of workers or laborers to a decent life, in the determination of the UMP it was obligatory to be given by employers to all of their workers.

"Later in its implementation the Manpower Service will carry out supervision, even receiving complaints of workers who are not paid according to the stipulations," he continued.

Furthermore, after the determination of the UMP at the West Papua Province level, it will also be followed by the determination of the Minimum Wage in 13 regencies and cities in West Papua Province.
