PT Pelindo Jayapura: Jayapura Harbor Reclamation is 100 percent complete

PT Pelindo IV (Persero) Branch of Jayapura, Papua said that the reclamation of Jayapura Port has been 100 percent completed so that now the container storage area is 3,000 square meters.

General Manager of Pelindo Jayapura Sonny Uktolseya in Jayapura, Thursday, said that based on monitoring results from Pelindo Regional IV Makasar, a re-check would be carried out on both the construction of the port land and the container stacking yard.

"So we can't be sure when the area will be used because it has to be checked again," said Sonny Uktolseya.

According to Sonny, his party has estimated that it will be able to operate at the beginning of this year so that the need for land for container storage can be fulfilled so that it will make it easier when ships enter the port.

"So when ships enter, it will no longer be difficult to load and unload, especially now that our land area is 3,000 square meters so that goods that enter can be up to 1,000 boxes, thereby improving services at the Port of Jayapura," said Sonny.

He explained that the land that had been reclaimed was not yet operational because the team from Pelindo Regional IV Makassar had to check whether the project had been accepted or not, so an inspection was carried out for six months.

"During the six months, inspections were carried out, if anything was damaged or lacking, repairs were carried out," he said.

He added that his party hopes that with the completion of this land reclamation, it will improve container services at the Port of Jayapura, thereby reducing the activity of shipping goods to Hamadi and in the future reducing the accumulation of goods.
