TNI Confirms KKB Claims Shoot Hoax Officers: Civilian Victims

Regional Military Command XVII/Cenderawasih confirmed that the claim by the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) that they confessed to shooting officers in the Bintang Mountains, Papua last Monday (5/12), was false information.

"That statement is untrue and is hoax news which is actually meant to cover up the brutal and sadistic actions of the KST mob who inhumanly killed civilians by ignoring human rights," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Colonel Kav Herman Taryaman, Monday (12/12).

He said the victims who died from the KKB action were civilians who worked as motorcycle taxi drivers.
 
"That the victims who died from the brutal and sadistic actions of the KST Ngalum Kupel gang were civilians," he said.
 
The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, also confirmed that this claim was not true.

"Just check the address of the victim where he is buried. The defense has always said that those killed were intelligence members in disguise," said Kamal.
 
Previously, TPNPB-OPM claimed to attack TNI-Polri officers in Papua. The group admitted to shooting dead three people it called intelligence.

Apart from that, the group also admitted to shooting a TNI member to death.
