Promote Cultural Values and Support Indigenous Peoples Congress, Rowing Competition Held at Lake Sentani

The traditional rowing competition will be held in Kalkhote, Kampung Harapan, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, on June 25, 2022.

This competition is in order to welcome the 76th Anniversary of Bhayangkara.
 
Jayapura Police Chief AKBP Fredrickus WA Maclarimboen said the traditional rowing competition was held to raise cultural values.

Apart from traditional rowing, other competitions were also held to enliven Bhayangkara's anniversary.

These include Instagram reels, Kamling Posts, mass vaccines, and mass marriages.
 
"Raising cultural or traditional matters, we cooperate with the sport itself, so from technical meetings to meetings, requirements, following the rules of the game in these sports," he explained.

According to him, this traditional rowing competition also supports the implementation of the 6th Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (KMAN) in Jayapura Regency, next October.

From the results of the rowing competition, he continued, the participants who won the competition were expected to develop.
 
"We opened a space so that the oars can be displayed, there is Lake Sentani, so it's back to its use," he said.

AKBP Fredrickus explained, in addition to competitions, this event is also tourism education and promotion.
 
The Instagram Reel competition raised the theme of nature and social values in Sentani.
